This was an exciting morning! Students returned breathless and excited upon the discovery of a Sharp-Shinned Hawk caught in the mist nets set up by our resident ornithologist, Craig Hohenberger. What a treat!

Jane Atkins and her students discovered the tiny jewel of a monarch chrysalis nestled in the native landscape on the central island at the Habitat, towards the end of November. After careful monitoring, students were also lucky to observe the emergence of the beautiful butterfly. A true testament to building native plant habitats !
